Matthew 11 – Doubts, relief from problems and peace of mind “With me you will get the peace and rest of your soul.”

The testimony of Matouš, who spent over 3 years with Jesus and saw all this with his own eyes!
In addition, what he heard and saw, he must have told countless times, maybe that’s why he wrote it all down in the end, so that he wouldn’t have to repeat the same thing over and over again. ☺️

Jesus dispels John’s doubts

2 John the Baptist heard of Jesus’ actions in prison, sent his two disciples to him, and they asked him: 3 ‘Are you really the promised Messiah, or should we expect another?’ 4 Jesus answered them: ‘Return to John and tell him about what you have seen and heard: 5 The blind see, the lame walks, the lepers are healed, the deaf hear, the dead rise to life And those who mean nothing to people are assured that God is counting on them.  6 Happy is the one who accepts me without reservations.”

Comment: What did Jesus say here?- His testimony!

Even John the Baptist doubted! – This can happen to all of us! – The solution is to go to Jesus and discuss it with him, not to be ashamed of the doubts – Jesus always knows about them anyway – and he continues to love us anyway. As we will not stop loving our child, even if it goes through something difficult, nor will God stop loving us.

11 Indeed, among all the people who have ever been born, there is no one who surpasses John the Baptist by his mission; But he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than him.

Comment: Listen to what Jesus said about John the Baptist – ‘Among all the people who have ever been born, there is no one who surpasses John the Baptist in his mission.’ – And that despite the fact that John the Baptist doubted! Next, Jesus said, ‘But he who is the smallest in the kingdom of heaven is greater than him.’ – Imagine that Jesus says the same thing about you!

12-15 Since John the Baptist began to preach and baptize, God’s rule has asserted itself, but violence harms it.

Jesus promises peace of soul

28 Come to me all who work and bear the weight of burdens, you will find peace and relief with me. 29-30 What I put on you is not pressured and not difficult. Learn from me, I have a quiet and humble heart. With me you will gain the peace and rest of your soul.”

Comment: This is a modern translation of our well-known yoke, which does not push.
The translation of B21 gives it as follows: Take upon yourself my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in the heart, and your souls will find rest. My yoke is pleasant and my burden is light.’

Since today’s generation usually has no idea what a yoke is, I’m glad for this new SNC translation.
Although I also like the idea of being harnessed in the yoke with Jesus and he helps me with my problems.
