Making someone happy is one of the easiest and most pleasant things that can be done. There are countless ways to make someone happy. Start by thinking about what you could do for someone. It is not necessary to spend money or invest a lot of time; In fact, it’s the little things that matter. Make someone’s day a little better and you’ll find that yours is better right away. tho Susan Morem
Even after years of working in the area of stress reduction and teaching people how to be happier, I am constantly surprised that the most effective methods of reducing stress and improving human life are actually the easiest. One of the first lessons about real life that my parents taught me as a child is perhaps the most basic: if you want to feel good about yourself, make sure that someone else feels good. It really is that simple.
Acts of kindness and goodwill are absolutely wonderful. There is one old saying: ‘Giving is itself a reward.’ That’s definitely true. Your reward for kindness and helping another person is the warm and positive feelings that are inherent to your efforts. So, starting today, think about who you could help to be better off and enjoy your reward. tho Richard Carlson
The best part of human life is his small, nameless, forgotten acts of kindness and love. tho William Wordsworth (1770-1850)
Once upon a time there was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew that God lived far away, so he packed cookies and six cans of lemonade in his backpack and set off on his journey.
When he walked a few blocks from the house, he met an elderly gentleman. He was sitting in a park near the water watching the birds.
The boy sat down next to him and opened the backpack. He was almost starting to drink lemonade when he noticed that the old man was looking hungry, so he offered him a cookie.
The old man gladly accepted her and smiled at him. The smile was so amazing that the boy wanted to see him again, so he offered him lemonade.
He smiled at him again. The boy rejoiced! They sat there all afternoon, eating, smiling and not saying a single word.
As it started to get dark, the boy realized he was already tired and headed home. But after a few steps he turned around, ran to the old man and hugged him. And the old man gave him the most beautiful smile.
When the boy came home a moment later, his mother was surprised by how beaming he looked. She asked him, ‘What have you been doing today that you will be so happy?’
The boy replied, ‘I had lunch with God.’ And even before his mother could react, he added: ‘And you know what? She has the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen.’
Meanwhile, the old man, also shining with joy, returned home. His son was surprised by the peaceful expression on his face and asked, ‘Dad, what have you been doing today, are you so happy?’
He replied, ‘I ate cookies in the park. With God.’ And before his son had time to react, he added, ‘You know, he’s much younger than I expected.’
Too often we underestimate the power of touch, a smile, a kind word, a willingness to listen, a sincere compliment, or the slightest expression of interest – and all this has the potential to make someone’s day much better, or even completely change someone’s life. tho author unknown
