And what if Christmas is here and you’re just not in the mood for it? Are you worried about the future, are you sad or have you gone through a big loss? It should be the happiest time of the year, but you just don’t feel that way. … it’s okay. We don’t have to fix our pain, sadness or loss quickly, it still doesn’t work.
I think that even the shepherds who looked after the sheep on the first Christmas did not feel anything special, it was just another ordinary cold night of Bethlehem. Their city was crowded with visitors who came there for the census, which only bleakly reminded them of Roman rule. Nothing looked particularly promising.
But suddenly the angels filled the sky with a message that there was no need to worry; That night a Savior is born in their city. That changed everything during that ordinary night and suddenly there was hope! A savior came!
If you don’t feel like all the festivities of these holidays, try to focus on the hope that this period brings. Jesus came and through him redemption for all the bad things we ever did. We no longer have to be separated from God, Jesus is the connection between us and God! We don’t need any decorations and gifts for such contemplation, we can celebrate in our hearts.
Jesus is with us, wherever we are, at Christmas and every other day of the year, and he loves us immensely! unabled M. Alverová (adapted)
New Year’s Wish
At the beginning of the new year, many people, with a certain amount of apprehension and excitement, expect what is waiting for their families and friends, and the whole world. It is a consolation to know that no matter what awaits us in the future and no matter what problems or difficulties we face, God wants to help us overcome them.
It is not easy to live in today’s world and not to be tossed by waves of fear and sorrow, but it is not impossible. The secret is that we develop a habit not to focus on our fears, but on the one who loves us and always takes care of us. Because he promised that he was still with us, for better or for worse, and that nothing could separate us from his loving care. (Bible, Hebrews 13:5 and Romans 8:37-39)
May God make your year happy!
Not by protecting you from all the sorrows and pains,
But by strengthening you so that you can handle them as soon as they come;
Not by making your journey easier,
But by making you resilient so that you can go any way;
Not by devoting you difficulties,
But by removing fear from your heart;
Not by giving you continuous sunny days,
But by the fact that your face can shine even in the shadows;
Not by always making your life more pleasant,
But by showing you when people need you most,
And that it will give you the strength to help them.
I wish you God’s love, peace, hope and joy for the next year!
