One day God decided to send a beetle with a large basket to the ground to collect pleas and prayers from the people. The angel flew across the earth criss-crossing. He visited the poor and the rich, the happy and the sad, the grieving and the happy, the hungry and the saturated. He flew to the children, to the adults, to the young and the old. He visited prisons as well as children’s homes and homes for the elderly, hospitals and institutions. He was in villas, in apartments, houses and slums, he simply did not forget anyone!
He returned to heaven to the throne of God with a basket full of human wishes. He collected everything they asked for, whether it was big things like the healing of the seriously ill, or something that might seem like a bummer. (But there is nothing wrong with God! He takes seriously everything we ask him for and makes him happy when we ask for help. After all, he is our heavenly father and we are his children and he cares about us so much!) God was happy to be able to please his children on earth and He did everything to give the best answer to everyone who asked for something.
When a very good and loving angel who was called Oslavínek saw all this, he asked God if he could also go to earth and collect all the thanks from the people. (He liked God very much and wanted to make him happy so much.) Because he didn’t miss how much work and organization required a lot of prayers. How many angels must have been involved in the work, how much and hard they worked to make certain people meet, to be able to say nice things, to treat each other nicely, to help each other and so on….
So our little angel Oslavínek set off. He flew through the whole country from north to south, from east to west, he was also on the islands, even in the high mountains, in hot deserts, on ships and on planes, he got everywhere and he managed to visit all the persons who asked God for something. But to his great surprise, he flew back to heaven to the throne of his dear God with weight in his heart, not in the basket…. How will he be able to show his cup to God?
When he stood before the throne, God leaned over and looked inside the basket. Few, very few thanks found in him. A shadow flashed through his beautiful loving face, sadness filled his eyes, perhaps even a tear appeared in them? So much, so much, he put in his answers to human desires, and so there was a little gratitude in the basket.
The little angel also got sad… And then he got an impeccable idea! Will send this story to the people on earth so that the next time God does something beautiful for them, they don’t forget to thank God.
So the next time you have joy, don’t forget to share it with your heavenly Father! We’ll fill the little angel’s basket together to the point of overflowing, what do you say? Are we going to do it? – Let God’s love accompany you everywhere!
Thank you for everything. (Bible, Thessalonian Chapter 5, verse 18)
