Buckwheat: ‘Have mercy on me, Lord, you expected king! My daughter is possessed by a demon and suffers greatly!’ But he didn’t say anything about it. His disciples urged him: ‘Do something with her, for she is still calling for us!’ Then he turned to the woman and said to her: ‘I was sent to help the Jews and not the Gentiles.’ But she came to him, bowed to him and begged: ‘Lord, help me!’ ‘It is not right to take bread to children and throw it to puppies!’ He said. She replied, ‘You’re right, but the puppies get leftovers from their masters’ tables.’ ‘Woman,’ Jesus said to her, ‘you have great faith, your wish is fulfilled!’ And from that moment her daughter was healthy. Commentary: Jesus told her that she had great faith. What did she do? First, she believed that he was the expected king. Second – she didn’t give up! How many times do we say to ourselves, this or this didn’t happen, so it probably shouldn’t have been. But when we read what Jesus did and said, we are surprised how much it matters to us and our perseverance. Jesus calls it great faith! The story of the ballerina reminds me of a story about a girl whose biggest life’s dream was to become a professional ballerina. After years of renunciation, a special diet, hours of training and hard work, she finally had a chance to dance in front of the great artistic director of the ballet. Now her dream will come true! She gave it her all while he barely looked at her. Finally he told her that he didn’t have what was needed for it. It completely broke the girl’s heart. She hung up the biscuits on a nail and never returned to ballet. Years later, at a big party, she accidentally came across the same now white-haired boss. Finally, she had the opportunity to ask him what was missing in order to become a professional ballerina. She reminded him of the test it was and received a shocking answer. ‘What I told you, I told everyone.’ ‘What do you mean? Aren’t you serious? How could you ruin my life like this? This was my biggest dream!’ responded the former ballerina affected. ‘If it really was your biggest dream, nothing would discourage you, not even my answer. The fact that one ‘no’ discouraged you so much proves that you didn’t have what was needed for it!’
