- Explanation of a parable of a grain sower
The path where some grains fell represents the hearts of people who hear about the kingdom of God and are not interested in it. Satan comes and picks up what was sown. The rocky earth represents the heart of a person who hears God’s message and receives it with great joy, but superficially, and it does not take root in it. Then when hardships or persecution come for the faith, his enthusiasm fades and what was sown disappears. A country covered with thistles represents a person who hears the message, but in whose heart the matter of everyday life and the desire for a better material security suffocates the word. It is sown in a good country with someone who hears the word and understands and who really brings a harvest: some a hundredfold, another sixty-fold and another thirty times.’
- Reason for speech in parables
The disciples asked him, ‘Why do you speak in the paintings?’ He explained it to them: ‘God is already revealing his intentions to you with the world, the mystery of the kingdom of heaven. It is hidden to others. 12 He who willingly accepts will have more and more, but he who does not accept my spiritual truths will be taken for what he has. That is why I use it Images, because those who want to hear will hear, those who want to see, see. Others hear and see, and yet they do not understand. you will not see. Because the heart of this people has become dull, they are deaf and closed their eyes so that they may not see, hear and understand, so that they may not turn to God where they may be healed.’ How good it is that your eyes see And the ears hear. Many prophets longed to see what you see and hear what you hear but were not allowed to.
- Jesus explains the parable of the weed
‘I am the landlord who sows good grains. The field represents the world and the grains, these are the people who belong to God. Weeds, these are people who fall into evil. The enemy who sows him is the devil. The harvest represents the end of the world and reapers are angels. Terrible. They will have weeping and despair left. And then those who have followed God’s will will shine like the sun in the kingdom of heaven the Father. Think about it!
- Jesus tells parable of mustard grain
He told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that man has taken and sown in his field. That grain is indeed the smallest of all seeds, but when it grows, it is larger than other herbs and is a tree, so that the birds will fly in and It nests in its branches.’ He further used this image: ‘God’s influence acts like kvass. A small amount of ferments even a large amount of dough.’
- Jesus tells parables of treasure, pearl and net
The new life to which God calls you (the kingdom of heaven) is like a treasure buried in a field. Whoever finds him doesn’t talk about it yet, but he’s so happy to sell everything just to get the field. Or: It’s like a precious pearl discovered by a pearl dealer. He sells everything he has and buys it. The kingdom of God is like a net lowered into the sea, in which all kinds of creatures get stuck. When the net is full, the fishermen pull it to the shore, pick good fish in the baskets and throw the others out. That’s how it will be at the end of the world. God’s angels will come and separate the evil from the God-fearing and throw the evil into the fire. There will be crying and despair. Did you understand everything?’ ‘Yes,’ they replied. To this he said to them: ‘Every teacher of the Scriptures, who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven, is like a landlord who brings out new and old things from his treasure.’
- Nazareth people refuse to believe
When Jesus finished his interpretation in parables, he returned to his home city. He taught in the synagogue there. Everyone was surprised: ‘Where does such wisdom and power come from in him? Where does the person get it from?’ They couldn’t cope with it. And because of their unbelief, he did not perform many miracles there. He explained it by saying, ‘He respects the prophet more everywhere than in his hometown and in his home!’ Comment: Did Jesus have siblings? Yes! Here in verses 55 and 56 it is clearly written. ‘Jakub, Joseph, Simon and Judas are his brothers! Even his sisters live among us.’ – So he had at least 6 siblings. Here they mention 4 brothers and sisters – in the plural, there could have been more than just 2. James and Judas wrote the letters in the New Testament named after their name. An interesting fact is that during Jesus’ life we do not hear about them, but only after Jesus rose from the dead. But they are probably not surprised, imagine if your brother said that he was the messiah and predicted his death and that he would wake up from it! You probably wouldn’t believe him either before it happened! Mostly SNC Bible translation online: https://www.bible.com/cs/bible/162/MAT.13.SNC..
