God still speaks
God is not dead! He is alive, always ready, willing and able to talk to his children – and wants to talk to you too.
‘How can this happen?’ You may be asking. In order to understand the answer – how the great God and Creator of the universe could communicate directly with you, or why he would even want to do it – you must first understand how much God loves you. He loves you so much that he sent his Son Jesus to die for your sins, so that you may be forgiven and you may receive God’s gift of eternal life in heaven. Just believe in Jesus and accept him as your Savior. Jesus died not only for the sins of the whole world, but he would also die for you alone. He and his father love you so much.
In his love, God also gave you the Bible, through which he tells you how to live in love and harmony with him and others. God’s word in the Bible is an inexhaustible source of faith, comfort, encouragement, instructions, wisdom and strength of spirit.
But God did not end there. He loves you so much that he wants to communicate with you not only through his written word, but also directly! He is very interested in you and wants to be involved in your life. He knows you have questions and problems and wants to give you answers and solutions. He also wants to speak to you personally with words of love and encouragement to revive your faith and give you assurances in difficult times. Most of all, however, he wants you to know how much he loves you personally. That is why he created the means of mutual communication, the connection between him and you, so that you can talk to him and at the same time hear the words intended immediately for you.
But what to do if you don’t feel too ‘spiritual’ or close to God? You will surely be pleased if I tell you that God wants to speak to anyone who has at least a little childishly simple faith – he wants to chat with you as a friend and would like to share his infinite wisdom and boundless love. It makes him happy when you try to get to know him more.
God can speak to you in different ways. When you read the Bible, it may make some passage speak to you as if it were written just for you, as a clear answer to your questions. He doesn’t even have to use words – he can only give you an impression or an inner conviction, an intuitive knowledge about a certain situation. He can speak to you through vivid dreams or visions. He can speak through people who are close to God, whose wisdom and experience you can benefit from. However, of all the ways in which God can speak to you, there is probably none as magnificent and useful as the gift of prophecy.
Did you know that the basic definition of the word ‘prophecy’ according to the dictionary is not a ‘prediction’, but rather ‘a divinely inspired statement’? In other words, prophecy means Receiving a message directly from God. Whenever you hear the words in your mind that you believe come from God and say or write them down, you prophesy.
You can hear God’s voice! Try it! Try if he doesn’t open the heavenly gates for you and pour such treasures on you just for you – that you won’t be able to take them all!
The essential information for you is that if you pray (in the beginning it is good to read something from the Bible or on this topic beforehand, or thank him and get more into the Spirit of God) and wait a moment (eyes closed will help you concentrate better), so you The first thing that comes to mind is the answer from God. Sometimes it can be a feeling, sometimes words, sometimes a vision or a picture.
The gift of prophecy is like any gift from God, it must be practiced, such as playing the guitar. Over time, you will learn to recognize what is actually the first thing you hear. In the beginning, you probably won’t be too sure if it’s your own thoughts or a message from God. Don’t worry, it will become clearer to you after some time. You can do a ‘step of faith’ and just follow what he told you (even if you’re not convinced it was from him).
I can confirm from experience that when I did what I heard, things developed much better than I could ever hope for. Every time I followed this and saw the good results, my faith grew and my trust and relationship with Jesus deepened. Don’t be afraid to try it, it’s worth it!
